Uganda Welcomes Turkish Delegation to Boost Tourism
Kampala, Uganda — A high-level delegation of prominent Turkish digital influencers and tour operators has arrived in Uganda for a week-long Familiarization (FAM) Trip aimed at unveiling the country’s rich and diverse tourism offerings. The initiative, organized by the Embassy of Uganda in Ankara, seeks to position Uganda as a premier destination for the Turkish travel market.
The delegation, representing a mix of photographers, travel content creators, vloggers, and lifestyle ambassadors, will explore iconic Ugandan attractions such as Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for mountain gorilla trekking, and the vibrant cultural scene in Kampala. Their immersive journey is designed to generate impactful digital content that will elevate Uganda’s visibility across Turkey and the wider Eurasian region.

Speaking on behalf of the visitors, Hüseyin Kurt expressed gratitude for the opportunity to experience Uganda’s unique tourism gems firsthand. He conveyed optimism that their visit would enable them to effectively market Uganda to their clients, thereby boosting tourist arrivals from Türkiye.
Mehmet Fatih Ak, the Turkish Ambassador to Kampala, highlighted the significance of growing people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. He noted that Türkiye welcomed 61 million tourists last year, generating $62 billion, underscoring tourism’s critical role in the Turkish economy and the willingness to share expertise. Ambassador Ak praised Uganda as a beautiful, politically stable, and secure country with great potential to increase tourism receipts. He also pointed to the newly launched direct flights by Turkish Airlines to Entebbe International Airport as a strategic advantage for promoting Uganda as a travel destination.
Nusura Tiperu, Uganda’s Ambassador to Türkiye, emphasized the importance of this initiative in strengthening bilateral relations through tourism and cultural exchange. She described the visiting influencers as “storytellers and digital bridge-builders” capable of connecting Uganda to millions across Türkiye and beyond, showcasing the country’s authenticity, biodiversity, and renowned hospitality.
Lily Ajarova, Senior Presidential Advisor on Tourism, lauded the collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, the Embassy of Uganda in Ankara, the Uganda Tourism Board, and private sector stakeholders. She described the FAM Trip as part of a broader strategy to diversify Uganda’s tourism source markets and unlock new opportunities for tourism-led investment and growth, highlighting Türkiye’s immense potential given its dynamic population and growing outbound tourism.
During their stay, the delegation will participate in a variety of curated activities including game drives, cultural experiences, gorilla trekking, culinary exploration, and business conferencing to better understand the Turkish market’s needs and foster networking with Ugandan tourism stakeholders.
This FAM Trip follows successful tourism roadshows organized by the Ugandan Embassy in various Turkish cities earlier this year, reflecting Uganda’s vision to develop tourism as a key driver of economic transformation, job creation, and sustainable development.
The initiative marks a significant step in deepening Uganda-Türkiye ties and expanding Uganda’s footprint in the global tourism arena. With direct flights and tailored tour packages on the horizon, Uganda aims to attract at least 1,000 additional Turkish visitors within the next year, further cementing its status as the “Pearl of Africa” for Turkish travelers.
