7 Days Uganda Safari With Pamela & Family By Alikamu
Pamela & her daughter booked a Land Cruiser Prado TX with our driver called Alikamu Mutagobwa– an experienced and passionate driver-guide who had been to several destinations in Uganda, including the ones suggested by Pamela and family. This detailed Uganda safari itinerary showcases the rich diversity of Uganda’s wildlife and landscapes, brought to life by Alikamu Mutagobwa’s expert guiding and Pamela & Family’s enthusiasm for adventure.
Day 1: Entebbe to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
At 9 am, Alikamu picked up Pamela & Family from Entebbe, beginning their exciting safari journey. They traveled north along the scenic Masindi Road, a 4-hour drive through Uganda’s lush countryside dotted with farms and small villages. The route offered glimpses of rural life and rolling hills, setting the tone for their wildlife adventure. Upon arrival at Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch, the family checked into their comfortable lodge nestled within this unique rhino sanctuary.
The afternoon was spent relaxing and exploring the sanctuary grounds, home to over 22 southern white rhinos, a species carefully conserved here since 2005. The ranch also hosts other wildlife such as bushbucks, waterbucks, and a variety of bird species, providing a rich introduction to Uganda’s biodiversity.

Day 2: Rhino Tracking and Lodge Relaxation

The day began early with a 3-hour guided rhino tracking on foot, led by expert rangers. Pamela & Family were thrilled to observe these magnificent rhinos grazing and moving through the bush, gaining insight into conservation efforts and the rhinos’ behavior. The sanctuary’s peaceful environment allowed for close but safe encounters, perfect for photography and learning.
After a hearty lunch, the family enjoyed a leisurely afternoon at the lodge, soaking up the serene atmosphere. In the evening, they embarked on a second rhino tracking session, enhancing their chances of spotting different rhinos and other wildlife such as duikers, mongooses, and a rich variety of birds including the rare shoebill stork in nearby wetlands.

Day 3: Shoebill Experience & Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

At dawn, Pamela & Family took a special boat trip in the nearby Lugogo Swamp to see the elusive shoebill stork, a prehistoric bird renowned for its striking appearance and rarity. This magical Uganda safari experience was a highlight, with the shoebill silently stalking fish in the swamp waters.
After breakfast, they checked out and began the drive to Murchison Falls National Park, arriving around noon. The journey offered spectacular views of Uganda’s countryside and the Albertine Rift Valley. Upon arrival, they enjoyed lunch and some rest at Red Chilli Camp, set in the heart of the park.
In the late afternoon, Alikamu took them on their first game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. They encountered herds of elephants, buffaloes, and graceful Rothschild’s giraffes browsing the acacia woodlands. The savannah was alive with Uganda kob, warthogs, and the occasional glimpse of lions resting in the shade.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive, Top of the Falls & Sunset Boat Cruise

Before sunrise, the family set out on a 4-hour game drive. The early morning light illuminated the park’s abundant wildlife: large herds of buffalo, elusive leopards camouflaged in the shrubs, and prides of lions surveying their territory. They also spotted Jackson’s hartebeest, bushbucks, and playful olive baboons along the route.
Returning to the lodge for lunch and rest, they later transferred to the top of Murchison Falls. Here, the Victoria Nile forces its way through an 8-meter-wide gorge, plunging 45 meters with a thunderous roar into the Devil’s Cauldron below-a breathtaking spectacle.
At 3 pm, Pamela & Family boarded a boat for a 2-hour sunset cruise along the Nile. The riverbanks teemed with hippos wallowing in the water and crocodiles basking on the shores. Elephants and buffaloes came to drink, while birds such as the African fish eagle, giant kingfisher, and saddle-billed stork soared overhead. The golden light of sunset cast a magical glow over the landscape, perfect for wildlife photography.

Passing through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, the family experienced one of Uganda’s most unique wildlife spectacles: tree-climbing lions. They spotted several lions resting lazily in the branches of acacia trees, a rare behavior that fascinates visitors. The plains were dotted with large herds of elephants and buffalo, while Uganda kob grazed peacefully.
In the evening, Pamela & Family checked in at Kazinga Wilderness Camp, nestled near the famous Kazinga Channel.
